Mustard Seed and Other Invasive Blessings

In this sermon on Luke 17:5–10, we consider what it means to live by faith and do the simple duties Christ has called us to. When the apostles cry out, “Lord, increase our faith,” Jesus teaches them that even faith as small as a mustard seed is enough to do great things — including the hardest command of all: to forgive. This message from Pastoral Intern Sammie Hargrave reminds us that true faith grows over time, taking root in every part of our lives. We are called to forgive, to serve, and to obey — not to earn favor with God, but because we are His workmanship, created for the good works He has prepared beforehand. The mature Christian life is not about gaining merit, but about faithfully walking in the grace God gives.
